Description:
The inaugural 2023 Advanced Seminar was a one-day event hosted by FVFL, CREVAWC, and the Alliance of Canadian Research Centres on Gender-Based Violence.
In the past two years, there have been many progressive changes to Federal and Provincial laws related to family violence and family law. Family law lawyers and court-related professionals (assessors, social services, mediators) play a critical role in helping the courts recognize and respond to the risks and harms of family violence and for preventing misuse of the court process to continue patterns of coercive control. The Advanced Seminar provided an opportunity to come together with like-minded professionals to share strategies for gathering and presenting evidence of family violence, approaches to managing cases, developing parenting plan recommendations and to debrief.
